Learn about the exciting world of robotics during this introductory course where students will have a hands-on opportunity to design, build, and program a basic robot to interact with its environment. While working in engineering teams of two, each team will have an opportunity to learn the NXT platform. The goals of the courses are to promote an awareness of basic computer programming (engineering / designing) while reinforcing key concepts such as applied physics, math, effective problem solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
Prerequisite: Students are required and expected to be able to work cooperatively with others, follow directions, work on-task, function within the lab / team setting, and be respectful of both the equipment and others. This program is NOT advisable for students with behavioral or social needs. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today. Maximum 20 students per course.
Targeted Students: Academically motivated students (ages 9-14) within the Abbotsford area.
Place: Yale Secondary School - Room E107 - Robotics lab
Time: 3:30pm to 5:00pm (Tuesday / Thursday)

NXT 100 - Introduction to Robotics Courses - $65.00 for 9 hours:
Prerequisite: None but see above for general expectations

NXT 140 - GearBots Engineering Challenge / Open lab practice time - $25.00 for 3 hours (3:30pm to 4:30pm):
Prerequisite: NXT 100
April 2012: 3, 5, 10

NXT 150 - Advanced Engineering Designs / Free building projects - $65.00 for 9 hours:
Prerequisite: NXT 100
November 2011: 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17

NXT 200 - NXT-G Advanced Programming Design - $85.00 for 12 hours:
Prerequisite: NXT 100
February 2012: 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, March 1

NXT 400 - Introduction to ROBOTC / LabVIEW programming languages - $85.00 for 12 hours:
Prerequisite: NXT 200
